Syracuse Post-Standard: Syracuse marks 16th anniversary of 9/11 with 17 minutes of silence

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The city of Syracuse marked the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States this morning with 17 minutes of silence, representing the time between the first and second planes hitting the World Trade Center towers.

The “Flag of Heroes,” which contains the names of all emergency service providers who gave their lives, and the “Flag of Honor,” which represents all the civilian victims, were also on display.
