Flag of Heroes – Panjway, Southern Afghanistan
Sorry it has been over 2 months since you sent me the flag, but i have been traveling this sand filled country staying busy. I am going home in about a week and i have compiled the pictures that i have taken over the past 8 months. The single picture of the Flag of Heroes is from a part of southern Afghanistan known as Panjway, where the largest NATO combat battle occured known as Operation MEDUSA. This flag was flown over the US command center and served as a motivation tool to all those involved. The second photo is of a local national worker and myself with the flag. I had a linguist explain to the worker the meaning of the flag and why i carried it around. He expressed his sympathies and said that he is very thankful for what the US is doing to make Afghanistan safe.
